Buyer Beware – Study Finds Many Used Cars Have Recall Notices (Guest Post)

A study conducted in April 2012 by CARFAX found that many of the cars for sale had recall notices that weren’t addressed. Surprising? CARFAX, the world’s largest motor vehicle information provider, made this startling revelation just as figures of used car on the market were on the rise. According to the findings, more than 3 million vehicles that were posted on online car sales websites had recall notices, and that figure is for the year 2011 alone.

The leading states in this finding were California, Texas and Florida. The numbers for each state were huge; approximately 100,000 vehicles for sale were found to have unresolved notices. Most of the notices were for safety reasons, according to CARFAX.

Many vehicle manufacturers issue recall notices, for both major and minor adjustments to the cars. Most of these notices are meant to resolve defective and low quality parts that might prove to be a danger. To ensure that these potentially fatal issues are corrected fast, many recalls are carried out for free, and most of the repair/ replacement are done by the manufacturers’ dealer shop.

Car makers usually try to contact the vehicle owners through the records that are available to them, but sometimes this isn’t always possible. Some owners are completely unaware of the danger the car poses to them until they are involved in a crash or accident. This has prompted government agencies to urge car manufacturers to come up with efficient ways to issue safety recall notices. Some of these government agencies have even come together to form a website where car owners can check to see if their vehicle model has been recalled.

Buyers of vehicles should stay informed of the hazards of buying used cars that may have been recalled. Sadly, it’s not until they are involved in an accident that many do their homework. As such, you are advised to make sure that the car is safe to drive. You can ask the dealership to provide all relevant information pertaining to the car. You can also go a step further and check out the manufacturer’s website for more information. When it comes to keeping your family safe, being informed at all times is the way to go.

Finding safe cars for sale Australia shouldn’t be a hard thing. The internet is filled with websites that offer great deals on cars, plus you can check their safety ratings.  Many of these websites give excellent value for your money, plus the quality of the cars is great. The prices are affordable too, and you won’t get any better deals elsewhere. Just make sure that the company is reputable, so you know you are dealing with genuine people.
